Thanks to all of you for stopping by to check out our family vacation photos. We had such an awesome time and are very thankful both of our children agreed to go on this holiday jaunt with us. Janie and I visited Estes Park, CO last year on our road trip and loved it so much we brought the guys back for a 2015 visit. In preparing for our trip, I updated my iPhone to the newest operating system and did not discover the glitch until after we arrived at our cabin. Although my phone's weather app told me it was 81 degrees, it was not. We arrived in falling snow and 30-degree temperatures. We took that as a great excuse to shop, so no worries there. We had a welcoming committee when we arrived. This elk had a rock he stood on outside our cabin; we didn't seem to bother him at all.
Rocky Mountain National Park is a fabulous place. Just to drive around is beautiful, but even in the snow we were able to take a few hikes on the numerous trails in the park. By our third day the weather had cleared enough to see the mountain peaks and they were worth the wait.
Even with the snowflake on the lens, this was a great pic!

And on third day, there was sunshine!
Yes, he really is that much taller.
On Trail Ridge Road. This road crosses the park but is closed due to snow. On this day, we were able to go 11 miles into the park before the road ended and the view at the top was fantastic.
The obligatory family snapshot in front of the sign.
hike.
A bonus at the top - cell service!
And one more photo - we were lucky to see these baby owls in the nest on our drive around the park.
God Bless America!
